Derek Johnson is a Creative Director and hands on designer who has spent the breadth of his career focused on design & branding. He is also an artist, writer, musician, and by nature, an observer, constantly inspired by the power of images and their relevance in both popular culture and the world.

He began his career at Sims Snowboards in Santa Barbara, California, where he helped launch the sport into a mass appeal youth culture giant using the web and marketing visuals. Derek then relocated to Zurich, Switzerland and Milan, Italy and has developed creative for clients including Nike, Nintendo,
YouTube, Airwalk, Kalexo, hotornot.com, Spinmaster, Wham-O, and DNR. He has also worked with various web companies in the development of visuals and key concepts and continues to learn and grow in experience.

As art director, Derek focuses on the creation and evolution of brands and products. His industry experience as a consultant, agency creative and in-house director provides a multifaceted understanding of the business. Coupled with his natural curiosity and consumer insight, he understands what can transform a company into a truly unique brand. Derek creates a seamless experience, through branding & strategic positioning, creative ideation & image design, advertising & packaging, as well as corporate & product identity.

Derek now lives in the bay area and travels to New York,
Los Angeles, Europe and a handful of other locations, both practical and exploratory.
